     Since a major Interstate Such as I-75, I-40 etc does not run along the beautiful EMERALD COAST there is not a cut and dry straight shot for most folks visiting the more well know areas around large Emerald Coast cities such as Pensacola, Navarre, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Beaches Of South Walton, Panama City Beach, Mexico Beach / Port St Joe, Apalachicola and others, God willing we will soon have VERY DETAILED example routes from Mobile, Montgomery, Columbus, Tallahassee etc and NOT Mapquest type computer generated maps.  On our recent trip to the Emerald Coast Destin area, at a Alabama welcome center (if I remember right) , we were giving a route to get to Destin from there, that had about ten lines on the paper, which was very welcomed, yet not very easy to follow.  We intend to design these routes with extensive details, including mileage between every reference, landmarks at every road change, etc. etc. Since Destin is sort of mid-way, we may start with that as our first Destination. Most maps will be laid out as recommended routes by friends of DiscoverEmeraldCoast (out of state vacation rental owners etc) that have found preferred routes via their many visits over the years.  NOTE: Maps TO little known GEMS under the GEMS menu above will be included IN those Virtual Tours.  This website will be designated for suggested routes TO the Emerald Coast area FROM major surrounding cities.  For a reference sample map (from our Smokies site) similar to what we will be building CLICK HERE
